Technical Assistance
The IMF Technical Assistance Dataset records the IMF’s technical assistance to member countries in 1964–1989: 2,511 short-term missions and 1,215 resident advisor assignments in 161 countries. It is compiled from IMF archival documents: annual technical assistance reports issued as Executive Board documents, and Secretary’s Circulars listing staff assignments. For each mission, it records the country, purpose, IMF department, staff, dates, and source document. A country-year panel counts missions and mission-months, overall and by department. The dataset will be released once the working paper that introduces it is published.
